Commitment

This website is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at Level AA. Housing information should be available to everyone, and an inaccessible listing site excludes people from the market.

What has been done

  • Every text and background pair on the site was checked against WCAG 2.2 AA with computed contrast ratios rather than by eye. Body text pairs clear 5.38:1 against a 4.5:1 requirement.
  • The entire site is operable by keyboard, including the gallery viewer, the mobile menu and every form control. Focus is always visible.
  • The image gallery uses a native dialog, so focus is trapped correctly, Escape closes it, and focus returns to the thumbnail that opened it. Arrow keys, Home and End move between images.
  • Form errors appear in a summary that receives focus and links to each field, in addition to a message beside the field itself. No error is signalled by colour alone.
  • Interactive targets are at least 48 by 48 pixels.
  • Motion is limited to a single entrance reveal, and is removed entirely when the operating system requests reduced motion.
  • Every image carries descriptive alternative text. Decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Content is delivered as server-rendered HTML. Nothing important requires JavaScript to read, and the inquiry form works with JavaScript disabled.
  • Facts that are still pending confirmation are marked in text as well as visually, so the distinction is available to a screen reader.

Known limitations

Documents offered for download, once added, may be produced by third parties and may not meet the same standard. If you need a document in an accessible format, ask and it will be provided in an alternative format or read to you directly.
